World Egg Throwing Federation
The World Egg Throwing Championships took place at Swaton in Lincolnshire on the 29th June 2008.
Results.
Trebuchet Challenge. Requiring the construction of gravity powered device to hurl eggs over a variable set distance to be hand caught by a receiving target team member.
Winner. Team Emu ( England ). Catcher Alex Richardson (16yrs). Loader Pete Harborow (over 21yrs) 40 metres.
Runners Up. Team Latvian Welders Round Table Deepings. Catcher Paul Smitheringale (42yrs). Loader Darren Scott (39yrs)
Team America , under the command of Wendy Kunsey Massey of New York and Washington State , unfortunately resorted to friendly spectator fire with reverse or high shots. This was blamed upon late construction necessitated because the refusal of the authorities to let them bring on board aircraft weapons of mess destruction.
Team Holland , failed to attain minimum distance of 20 metres primarily due to the design weak points
Team Wales, although having constructed a fine machine, failed to enter due to the oversight of the fact that they made a large trebuchet and neglected to take account of the fact they drove a Corsa.
Russian Egg Roulette. 2 persons select from 5 hard boiled and 1 raw egg. and smash onto own forehead.
Winner. Opal Upton Brooker (29yrs), formerly of Team Russia , but now representing England .
Runner Up. Alex Richardson (16yrs) England
The Russian egg roulette was as entertaining as ever, with BBC's Tom Fordyce, Ben Dirs, Paddy McGuiness, and Rory McGrath all making their appearance.
Throwing and Catching- All comers.
Winners. George Wattam (16yrs) and Joe Spencer (16yrs).
Runners up. Tom Fordyce (old) and Ben Dirs (older) (from BBC Sport but their cameras absent due to local football derby on continent with no British teams taking part in it.)
Note event was held in heavy rain storm. Estimated winning distance 42 metres.
Throwing and Catching (under 12s)
Winners. Darra Hardy and Robert Arnold
Joint runners up. Jackson Maplethorpe / Danial Braid. Megan Williams/Johnathan Davies
Static Relay Egg Throwing.
Winners. United Nations team of Latvian Welder Round Table Deepings and Team Wales. 1 minute 45 seconds. 3 eggs survived
Target Throwing. From 7.38 metres lob eggs at target. Points for body parts hit.
Winner, with 2 shots to groin and 1 to midriff, Tim Burrell

All show and event proceeds go to local, national and international good causes including the Red Cross, Leukaemia Research, children’s hospice and Air Ambulance provision.
This years World Egg Throwing Championship attracted coverage in over 1000 newspapers and radios shows from Peru to China . 10 separate TV networks covered it from the UK , France , Germany and USA . Some video and photos can be viewed via the web site at www.eggthrowing.org
Its hoped that next years event on the 28th of June 2009 will do similarly well.
