WETC '09 has been a HUGE success, the best trebuchets we have ever seen. The battle for the title of 2009 Egguchet champion was closely fought with the defending Team Emu losing out to the Latvian Welders monstrous effort. The team of fairies eggs flew off into orbit, but unfortunately not in a pre-determinable direction, and with a fairy that couldn't quite fly doing the catching.
Former roulette champion, Opal, lost out in the 3rd heat, proclaiming loudly that she knew which egg wasn't boiled, yet failed not to choose it. The winner this year was Terri Death, relative of one the Fairies who failed to catastrophically earlier on in the games.
The throwing and catching event was another close contest, which saw 3 re-heats in the ring, spanning the entire width of the arena. We had our own Flying Scotsman who ended up with egg on his face as he dived into the path of the oncoming missile-like ball of yolk, which cost him and he only came third. Eventually after a few very tense moments, the defending champions took the title. Joe Spencer and George Wattam once again took home our very fine silver-ish cup. The runner up were a team from London, who are bringing reinforcements for next year.
The Relay race was won by a Team of Fairies and Leprechauns, who defeating the local team of Swaton-ites by 2 eggs.
We would like to thank everyone for coming and supporting the event and making in such a great day, you're all good eggs, and we hope to see you all again next year.
